I obtained my M.Sc degree at the Physics Department of the University of Patras, Greece and then my Ph.D in April 2015. My thesis was entitled “Observational study and modeling of close eclipsing binary stars of W UMa type” (supervisor Assistant Professor E.P Christopoulou). As a doctoral candidate I observed and investigated eclipsing binary stars (EBs) with peculiarities, third bodies and mass transfer and developed automated pipelines to model their physical properties and investigate eclipse timing variations.

As a fellow I plan to reveal the principal parameters and the statistics of EBs on data from Catalina Real-time Transients Survey and the Vista Variables in the Via Lactea ESO Public Survey, by applying time domain astronomy techniques and non-linear modeling methods.

Research interest

  • Eclipsing binaries
  • Follow up observational campaigns
  • Stellar variability survey
  • Modeling and optimization
  • Data mining

El título de mi tesis fue “Observational study and modeling of close eclipsing binary stars of W UMa type” (Profesor Asistente supervisor E.P Christopoulou).
