My research has spanned a broad range of topics, concentrating currently on the discovery and characterization of transiting exoplanets, a topic on which I started working while I was a Clay Fellow at the CfA. I’m actively involved in HATSouth, a project that has built a global network of southern hemisphere automated wide-field telescopes to detect transiting exoplanets.

A large fraction of my past research was concerned with nearby early-type galaxies and their globular cluster systems. In particular, I observationally addressed questions about the formation histories of early-type galaxies, the nature and origin of their central structure, their stellar population content, their kinematics and dark matter distribution, the formation and evolution of their globular cluster systems, their dust content and the nature of their X-ray binary populations. I was actively involved in the ACS Virgo Cluster Survey and was the principal investigator of the ACS Fornax Cluster Survey. I maintain activity in the Next Generation Virgo Cluster Survey, a large CFHT program to image the Virgo cluster from its core to its virial radius in five filters (u,g,r,i,z).
