My PhD degree in Astrophysics and Stellar Astronomy is obtained in the Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski, Bulgaria.

My recent research focuses on the properties of the lowest mass stars and coldest brown dwarfs. I am using proper motion and parallax surveys in order to search for new solar neighbors.

I am particularly interested in characterizing and understanding the cool atmospheres as well as searching for multiple systems and monitoring BD variability in order to understand atmospheric dynamics–essentially weather.

My principal research is focused on the study of star formation, resolved stellar populations and young stellar clusters in the Milky Way. I have thirty years experience in optical and IR observations. I am a member of the VVV and VVVX surveys science teams.

Soy profesor titular en Astrofísica en el Instituto de Física y Astronomía de la Universidad de Valparaíso, Chile.

Mi doctorado en Astrofísica y Astronomía estelar es de la Universidad de Sofía, “San Clemente de Ohrida”, Bulgaria.

Mi investigación reciente se centra en las propiedades de las estrellas menos masivas y enanas marrones. Estoy utilizando sondeos de movimiento propio y paralaje con el fin de buscar nuevos miembros de la vecindad solar.

Estoy particularmente interesado en la caracterización y la comprensión de los ambientes fríos, la búsqueda de sistemas múltiples y el seguimiento de la variabilidad de BDs con el fin de comprender la dinámica de las atmosferas y el “tiempo”.

Mi principal investigación se enfoca en el estudio de la formación de las estrellas, poblaciones estelares resueltos y cúmulos estelares jóvenes en la Vía Láctea. Tengo treinta años de experiencia en observaciones ópticas e IR.

Soy miembro de los equipos científicos de los sondeos VVV y VVVX.
