My main research interest is on the connection between the intergalactic medium (IGM) and galaxies, in the context of the large-scale structure of the Universe. I am mainly focused on how this relationship depends on the cosmic environment (voids, filaments, groups, clusters), and cosmic time (early and late Universe).

I obtained my B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Astronomy at Universidad de Chile; my M.Sc. thesis was on Absorption systems in optical spectra of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) afterglows, under the supervision of Prof. Sebastian Lopez. Then I moved to the UK, where I obtained my Ph.D. degree in Astrophysics at the University of Durham; my Ph.D. thesis was on The relationship between the intergalactic medium and galaxies under the supervision of Prof. Simon L. Morris and Prof. Tom Theuns. My first postdoctoral position was at the University of California, Santa Cruz where I worked in close collaboration with Prof. J Xavier Prochaska and the IMPS group. I then moved back to Chile, for my second postdoctoral position at the Millennium Institute of Astrophysics being hosted by the Pontificia Universidad Cat ó lica de Chile in Santiago. In 2017, I moved to Valparaíso as a faculty at PU CV where I have been working towards developing astronomy and astrophysics as part of its Instituto de Física. Mi interés principal de investigación es la relación entre el medio intergaláctico (IGM) y las galaxias dentro del Universo a gran escala. Mi enfoque se centra principalmente en cómo esta conexión depende del medioambiente cósmico (espacios, filamentos, grupos, cúmulos) y del tiempo cósmico (primeras y recientes etapas del universo)

Obtuve mi titutlo de Licenciatura y Magister en Astronomía en la Universidad de Chile y mi tesis de magister se llamó “Absorption systems in optical spectra of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) afterglows”, bajo la supervisión del Prof. Sebastián Lopéz. Me mudé al Reuno Unido en donde obtuve mi titulo de Doctor en Astrofisica en la Universidad de Durham. Mi tesis de doctorado se tituló “The relationship between the intergalactic medium and galaxies” y fui supervsado por el Prof. Simon L. Morris and el Prof. Tom Theuns. Mi primer puesto como investigador postdoctoral fue en la Universidad de California, Santa Cruz, en donde colaboré junto a el Prof. Xavier Prochaska and el grupo IMPS. Luego, regresé a Chile a mi srgundo puesto postdoctoral en el Instituto Milenio de Astrofisica, dentro de Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile en Santiago. En el año 2017, me mudé a Valparaíso a trabajar como docente de la PUCV, en donde sigo trabajando para el desarrollo de la astronomía y la astrofíscia y como miembro del Instituto de Física.
