Karim Elías Pichara Baksai

He is also a researcher in the Millenium institute of Astrophysics (MAS). He received his Ph. D. degree from Universidad Católica in Chile, 2010. During 2011-2012, he was as a postdoc fellow in IACS Harvard, performing his research in Data Science for Astronomy. His main research areas are Data Science and Machine Learning for Astronomy.

Since 2012 he has published several papers in top journals from Astronomy and Astrophysics, developing several new tools for automatic classification of variable stars, detection of quasars, discovery of known objects, dealing with missing data, and meta classification.

Además, él es investigador del Instituto Milenio de Astrofísica MAS. Obtuvo su doctorado en la Universidad Católica de Chile en 2010. Durante los años 2011 y 2012 se desempeño como investigador de postdoctorado en el IACS Harvard desarrollando su investigación en Data Science para Astronomía. En sus áreas de interés se destacan el Data Science y Machine Learning para la astronomía.

Desde 2012 publica variados papers en las revistas más importantes de astronomía y astrofísica, desarrollando muchas herramientas nuevas para la clasificación automática de estrellas variables, detección de quásares, descubrimiento de nuevos objetos, tratamiento de datos perdidos y meta clasificación.
