Currently, he is a Ph.D. student in Astrophysics at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. His Ph.D. thesis focuses on the automatic classification of variable stars and other variability phenomena. It uses novel semi-supervised machine learning algorithms when just a small number of labeled variable stars are available as a training set. This method can classify variables in the classes defined in the training set and group aside unknown variables by similarity.
His research interests lie mainly in stellar variability, stellar evolution, and astro-statistics, but he also is very involved in machine learning, deep learning, and big data[/fusion_text][fusion_text]

Actualmente, él es un estudiante de Doctorado en Astrofísica en la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Su tesis Doctoral se centra en la clasificación automática de estrellas variables y otros fenómenos de variabilidad. En ella, usa novedosos algoritmos semi-supervisados de aprendizaje de máquina los cuales sólo requieren un pequeño número de estrellas variables etiquetadas como set de entrenamiento. Éste método puede clasificar variables en clases definidas por el set de entrenamiento y agrupar por similitud variables desconocidas.
Sus intereses de investigación son principalmente variabilidad estelar, evolución estelar y astro-estadística, pero también se encuentra muy interesado en aprendizaje de máquina, aprendizaje profundo y Big Data.[/fusion_text][fusion_text]
