My name is Jura Borissova. I am working as a full professor in Physics and Astronomy Institute at the University of Valparaiso since 2007. Before this, I was a Staff Astronomer in European Southern Observatory, ESO (Paranal, Chile).
Between 2002 and 2003, I was a Post Doctoral Fellow in the Pontificia Universidad Catolica, Chile, and from 1990 – 2002 worked as Senior Researcher and Director of Star cluster group in the Institute of Astronomy, Bulgarian Academy of Science, Bulgaria.
I obtained my PhD in Physics and Astronomy from the University of Sofia, Bulgaria with a thesis on the Non radial pulsations of Be stars.
In 2000 I have defended a second thesis on the Galactic globular clusters and obtained the professional title “Senior Researcher II degree” in Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. These titles are recognized by Universidad de Chile, in 2006.
Research interests
My research interests are concentrated in the area of Galactic open and globular clusters, variable stars, brown dwarfs and stellar evolution.

Mi nombre es Jura Borissova. Estoy trabajando como profesora jornada completa en Instituto de Física y Astronomía de la Universidad de Valparaíso desde 2007. Antes de esto, yo era astrónomo en el Observatorio Europeo Austral ESO (Paranal,Chile).
Entre 2002 y 2003, trabajé como Postdoctorado en la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, y de 1990 a 2002 trabaje como Senior Investigador y Director del grupo de cúmulos estelares en el Instituto de Astronomía, Academia Búlgara de Ciencias, Sofía, Bulgaria.
Obtuve mí doctorado en Física y Astronomía de la Universidad de Sofía, Bulgaria, con una tesis sobre las pulsaciones no radiales de las estrellas Be.
En 2000 he defendido una segunda tesis sobre los cúmulos globulares galácticos y obtuvo el título profesional «Investigador Senior Grado II» en la Academia Búlgara de Ciencias. Estos títulos son reconocidos por la Universidad de Chile, en 2006.
