Eduardo Bendek

In 2004 he received his Master of Sciences in ME. In 2012 he graduated with a PhD in Optical Sciences from University of Arizona sponsored by a Fulbright Science and Technology Scholarship.

He has more that 10 years of experience in advanced astronomical instrumentation development and operations of ground and space telescopes. His areas of expertise are Laser Adaptive Optics and high contrast imaging for exoplanet detection. He worked for 3 years at the MMT observatory in Arizona and for 5 years at the ESO’s Very Large Telescope in Chile.

Currently he is a researcher at NASA and serves as Deputy Principal Investigator (PI) for the ACESat SMEX NASA Mission proposal. He also is PI for the ROSES grant “Enhanced direct Imaging exoplanet detection with astrometric mass determination” for the Technology Development for Exoplanet Missions (TDEM) element of the Strategic Astrophysics Technology (SAT). He also leads the Astrometry Study Analysis Groups (SAG-12) of The Exoplanet Exploration Program Analysis Group (ExoPAG).

En 2004 obtuvo su magister en ciencia en ME. En 2012 sacó su doctorado en Ciencias Ópticas de la Universidad de Arizona gracias a la Beca Fullbright de Ciencias y Tecnología.

Posee una experiencia de más de 10 años en el desarrollo de instrumentación astronómica avanzada y operaciones de telescopios en tierra y espaciales. Sus áreas de experiencia son Óptica Adaptativa Láser e imágenes de alto contraste para la detección de exoplanetas. Trabajó durante 3 años en el Observatorio MMT en Arizona y durante 5 años en el Gran Telescopio de la ESO en Chile.

Actualmente es investigador de la NASA e Investigador Principal Alterno del proyecto ACESat SMEX NADA Mission. Asimismo es PI de la beca ROSES, la cual busca “mejorar la toma de imágenes para la detección de exoplanetas con determinación de masa astrométrica” para la misión Technology Development for Exoplanets (TDEM) y el Element of the Strategic Astroplysics Technology (SAT). Asimismo, también lidera los Astrometry Study Analysis Groups (SAG-12) del Exoplanet Exploration Program Analysis Group (ExoPAG).
