Claudio A. Perez received the B.S.(EE) (1980), the PE (EE) and the M.S. in Biomedical Engineering (1985) from Universidad de Chile. He was a Fulbright student at the Ohio State University where he obtained the Ph.D. (1991). In 1990 he was a Presidential Fellow and received a Graduate Student Alumni Research Award from O.S.U.
In 1991 he received a Fellowship for Chilean scientists from Fundacion Andes. He is member of the IEEE/SMC, IEEE/CIS, Sigma-Xi, and OSU Alumni Association. He received funding from Fulbright Foundation through the Alumni Initiatives Award Program for Academic Interchange for research visits between U. of Chile and U.C., Berkeley (2002-2004).
Currently he is a Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Chile. His research interests include face biometrics, man-machine interfaces and pattern recognition. He was the Chairman at the Electrical Engineering Department (08/2003-07/2006).»

Claudio A. Pérez obtuvo su título de Ingeniero Eléctrico en 1980, su PE en Ingeniería Eléctrica y Máster en Ingeniería Biomédica en 1985 de la Universidad de Chile. Estudió con la beca Fulbright en Ohio State University en donde obtuvo su doctorado en 1991. En 1990 fue nombrado Presidential Fellow y recibió el Premio Graduate Student Alumni Research de O.S.U. En 1991 recibió una beca de investigación para Científicos Chilenos de la Fundación Andes. Pérez es miembro de IEEE/SMC, IEEE/CIS, Sigma-XI y de OSU Alumni Association. Recibió el apoyo financiero de la Fundación Fulbright a través de su Programa Alumni Initiatives Award para el intercambio académico de visitas cientoficas entre la Universidad de Chile y U.C., Berkeley entre 2002 y 2004. Actualmente es profesor del Departamento de Ingeniería Eléctrica de la Universidad de Chile. Sus áreas de interés incluyen Biometría Facial, Interfaces hombre-máquina y el Reconocimiento de Patrones. Fue además director del Departamento de Ingeniería Eléctrica entre agosto de 2003 a julio de 2006.[/fusion_text][fusion_text]
