I was born in Santiago in a hot summer day of 1987. Despite the fact that the sky of Santiago doesn’t offer a privileged access to the stars, I was caught by them from my early childhood.

I grew up watching them from my yard, or simply liyng down on the roof of my house. In this way, this initial curiosity turned into a life decision. Years later in 2005, I enter university, starting a bachelor in astronomy at PUC. After completing a master in the same place in 2012, I moved to the south of France for my PhD; a great adventure and life experience. In my research, my main concern is to try to understand how the Milky Way was formed.

To this end, I concentrate my efforts in studying long-lived low mass stars in the Milky Way bulge, the disks and globular clusters. The idea is to decode the fossil record of the past history of chemical and dynamical evolution that these stars contain.

Research interest

  • Galactic stellar populations: bulge, disk, globular clusters
  • Stellar spectroscopy
  • Big surveys
